Vladimír Vacátko (born September 15, 1952 in Liberec , Czechoslovakia ; † September 10, 2016 in Duisburg ) was a Czechoslovakian-born German ice hockey player who was German champion twice with the Düsseldorfer EG and once with the sports association DJK Rosenheim . He played for the German national team at the 1980 Winter Olympics .
Career
Vladimír Vacátko, who was born in Liberec , Czechoslovakia , later moved to West Germany. There he first drew attention to himself in the 1969/70 season when he scored 30 goals in 30 Bundesliga games wearing the Cologne Ice Club jersey . Despite these marksmanship of his youngsters in the Bundesliga newcomer from Cologne got into the league from. Vacatko, on the other hand, joined the Düsseldorfer EG and thus remained first class. During his time at DEG he played for several years with Petr Hejma in a series of storms. The storm duo was known for its one-two series. In 1972 and 1975 he won the German championship with the Düsseldorf team, for whom he scored a total of 230 Bundesliga goals . After ten years on the Rhine, he moved to the sports association DJK Rosenheim , with whom he celebrated his third German championship in 1982. Then he moved on to the ECD Iserlohn , where he formed a series of storms called “legendary” until 1985 with Martti Jarkko and Martin Hinterstocker senior . After he played another year for SV Bayreuth in the Bundesliga in the 1985/86 season , he was active for various lower-class clubs for the next seven years before ending his active career in 1993 at the age of 40.
Vacátko died shortly before his 64th birthday.
International
Vacátko played internationally for the German national team , with which he took part in the World Championships in 1976 , 1977 , 1978 , 1979 and 1981 as well as the Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid in 1980 .
