history

The first written mention of a farm Wlkow took place in 1350. In 1369 the village was mentioned as Wlikow . There was probably a fortress at today's gravel pit. In 1432 Vlkov became part of the Skochovice domain. After Vojtěch von Pernstein (1490–1534) had acquired this in 1521, he proposed it to Chlmetz . 1611 bought Wenzel Wchynsky von Wchynitz and Tettau the Dominium Chlumetz. In 1835 335 people lived in Vlkov, since then the number of inhabitants has been declining.

After the abolition of patrimonial Vlkov formed a district of the political municipality Skochovice in the Poděbrady district from 1850 . In 1907 the municipality of Vlkov was established , which has been called Vlkov nad Lesy since 1949 . On January 1, 1961, Vlkov nad Lesy was incorporated into Běrunice and at the same time came to Okres Nymburk . In 1991 the place had 81 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 57 houses in which 80 people lived.

Attractions

  • Church of John the Baptist, the originally Gothic building can be traced back to 1361
  • Vlkov nad Lesy hunting lodge, built in the second half of the 18th century by Count Franz Ferdinand Kinsky . The castle served as a forester's house from 1895. After the expropriation of Count Kinsky in 1945, it was nationalized. Since the 1970s, the castle has been used as a company holiday home by various companies in the Okres Nymburk. After 1990 it was privatized and is no longer accessible. During the renovation, it was heavily modified and the shingle roof was replaced by an asbestos-cement covering.
