Marina Carobbio Guscetti (born June 12, 1966 in Bellinzona ; resident in Blenio ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ). In the 2018/2019 year of office she was President of the National Council . Since March 2008 she has been Vice President of SP Switzerland . In November 2019 she was elected to the Council of States .

Life

Marina Carobbio Guscetti studied medicine at the University of Basel and graduated in 1991 with a diploma. She works in a group practice in Roveredo , Canton of Graubünden .

From 1991 to 2007 Carobbio Guscetti was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Ticino . From June 4, 2007 she was a member of the National Council. There she took a seat on the finance commission, the commission for social security and health and in the finance delegation. From December 2016 Carobbio Guscetti was a member of the Office of the National Council, first as second Vice-President, then as first Vice-President. On November 26, 2018, she was elected President of the National Council for the 2018/2019 year of office.

In the second round of the 2019 Council of States elections on November 17, 2019, Marina Carobbio Guscetti was elected to the Council of States together with Marco Chiesa (SVP) . It had 45 votes more than the previous Filippo Lombardi (CVP), who left the Council of States in third place after twenty years.

Carobbio Guscetti has been Vice President of SP Switzerland since March 2008. She is President of the National Working Group on Addiction Policy and Vice President of the Alpine Initiative Association and the Tenants Association Switzerland.

Carobbio Guscetti is married and has two children. She lives in Lumino . Her father, Werner Carobbio , was a member of the National Council.
