Greta Gysin (born October 6, 1983 in Locarno ) is a Swiss politician ( GPS ).

Life

Greta Gysin grew up as a German and Italian speaker in Rovio in the Lugano district . After graduating from Mendrisio , she studied political science , history and sociology at the University of Zurich . During her studies Gysin was in the 2004 local council elected by Rovio, which she belonged by 2011. She founded the Junge Grünen Ticino and was a board member of the green cantonal party in Ticino from 2006 to 2009. She then coordinated the Young Greens at a national level until 2010 with a 30% workload . From 2007 to 2015 she was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Ticino .

In the national parliamentary elections on October 20, 2019 , Greta Gysin was elected to the National Council for the Greens in the canton of Ticino . Your party won 17 additional seats in the National Council. Gysin himself ousted the previous Lega national councilor Roberta Pantani . With the election slogan «Greta? Gysin! " she alluded to her name relationship with the Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg .

Gysin lives in Zurich and has been working for the Transfair union since 2015 . As Head of Region East (since January 2017) she is part of the management. She has three children.
