Vogesella mureinivorans is an obligatory aerobic gram-negative (G- for short) bacterium . It is the type species of the genus Vogesella in the Neisseriaceae family.

features

V. mureinivorans is a rod-shaped and flagellated bacterium (on average 3.5 µm × 0.5 µm in size) that needs elementary oxygen for life ( obligatory aerobic ). It has a thin, single-layer murein shell , which makes up about 5–10% of the dry matter. Locomotion occurs by means of a single polar flagellum . With Gram staining , it cannot be stained either with crystal violet or with iodine ( gram negative ). It breaks down the peptidoglycans .

The reproduction occurs asexually through cell division .

genetics

The phylogenetic analysis of the 16S rRNA - gene sequence ( strain 389 T ) showed a match of nucleotides of 99.1% with Vogesella perlucida , 96.9% with vogesella indigofera and 96.8% with Vogesella lacus .

In a conjugation can bacteria using Sexpili the DNA with each exchange ( horizontal and vertical gene transfer ).

Pathogenicity

In V. mureinivorans , neither pathogenicity nor toxicity was found.

Initial description

The V. mureinivorans was isolated in 2010 from the trophy system ( mesotroph ) of the seawater north of the island of Zealand (Denmark) . The first description was made by the research group at the University of Copenhagen : Niels Ole Gersler Jørgensen, Ole Nybroe, Kristian Koefoed Brandt, Michel Hansen - the publication took place in October 2010.
