Volf Bergraser

Volf Bergraser (born January 4, 1904 in Nona Sulita , Romania, † November 13, 1986 ) was a French chess player . He was a grandmaster in correspondence chess .

Mountain grass originally came from Romania. He was a doctor by profession.

Bergraser won the French championship twice , namely in Bordeaux in 1957 and in Grenoble in 1966 . He represented his country at the Chess Olympiads five times : 1954 in Amsterdam , 1958 in Munich , 1960 in Leipzig , 1962 in Varna and 1964 in Tel Aviv . At the Grand Masters tournament in Monte Carlo in 1967 , he finished last after he had to give up prematurely due to an illness.

Mountain grass was considered a specialist in Scandinavian defense .

Correspondence chess

From 1953 to 1955 he was three times champion of France in correspondence chess. He qualified for the final of the second correspondence chess world championship (12th place) and the final of the fourth world championship (11th place). He has been invited to many important anniversary tournaments.

In 1959 he became international champion in correspondence chess , in 1981 he received the title of grandmaster.
