Volkmannsdorferau is a village in the municipality of Wang in Upper Bavaria . Parts of Volkmannsdorferau now also belong to the city of Moosburg adIsar .

Description and location

The place is a street village , all houses or farms are arranged along the village street. Volkmannsdorferau is located on the edge of the Hallertau, 2 kilometers east of the core town of Wang on the right bank of the Isar . The Munich – Regensburg railway line runs north .

Isar canal and compensation pond

At Volkmannsdorferau there is the 1.16 km² large Moosburg compensation pond, which belongs to the nature reserve Vogelfreistätte Mittlere Isarstauseen .

history

It is named after the Kirchdorf Volkmannsdorf on the left bank of the Isar , already mentioned in a document in 804 . Until the beginning of the 19th century, the place was the seat of a chairman in the Moosburg district court on the Isar. Volkmannsdorferau became an independent political municipality in the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria in 1818. On January 1, 1972, Volkmannsdorferau was incorporated into the Wang community. On May 1, 1978, the Uppenbornstrasse settlement, which had previously belonged to the Volkmannsdorferau community, was ceded to the city of Moosburg an der Isar . The settlement is now known as Volkmannsdorferau (City of Moosburg) .
