The Volksbank eG Erkelenz was a cooperative bank based in Erkelenz in the Heinsberg district .

history

Before the Second World War , the public-law Kreis- und Stadtsparkasse Erkelenz and the Landkredit Erkelenz eGmbH existed in Erkelenz . In the former district of Erkelenz there were another 17 cooperative credit institutions . However, these did not have any branches in Erkelenz. Therefore, on May 27, 1957, 27 entrepreneurs, self-employed and executive employees founded the Volksbank Kreis Erkelenz eGmbH in Erkelenz .

The first board consisted of Leopold Gillrath, Toni Roidl and Johannes Wimmers as honorary board members. Klaus Rätz from Erkelenz was a full-time member of the board. The supervisory board was headed by Karl Baldus, whose deputy was the doctor Kahrmann. The central bank Westdeutscher Volksbanken eGmbH and the Rheinische Genossenschaftsverband Schulze-Delitzsch eV, Cologne, supported the establishment of the cooperative . The first business location was set up on Markt 11.

On November 5th, the cooperative received its operating license and entered into the cooperative register on November 21st . On November 14, 1959, the cooperative opened its first office in Hückelhoven . In 1962, another branch was opened in Linnich . The cooperative was the only commercial credit cooperative to develop the Jülich- Linnich area . With the opening of the branch in Linnich, the name was changed from Volksbank Erkelenz eGmbH to Erkelenz . In 1966 Volksbank Erkelenz eGmbH set up a paying agent in Borschemich . In the 1967 financial year, the total of the deposits exceeded DM 10 million for the first time.

1972 took over Volksbank Erkelenz eGmbH the Savings and Credit Bank Ratheim eG , the name was changed to People's Bank / Savings and Credit Bank Erkelenz eG changed. 3,123 members held 5,212 shares. The name was again changed to Volksbank Erkelenz-Hückelhoven eG .

In 1978 the savings and loan association Müntz eG merged with the Volksbank Erkelenz eG in Titz . In addition to a bank building, the Müntzer credit union owned a warehouse. Shortly thereafter, Landkredit Erkelenz eG merged with Volksbank Erkelenz eG . 1987 took over Volksbank eG Erkelenz Hückelhoven the savings and loan bank Keyenberg eG. In 2004 the merger with Volksbank Wegberg eG followed.

In 2006, Volksbank Erkelenz-Hückelhoven-Wegberg eG had , in addition to the main office in Erkelenz, an office in Elmpt , five offices in Wegberg, two in Erkelenz, four in Hückelhoven and one each in Linnich and Wassenberg. In 2011 the name was changed to Volksbank Erkelenz eG.

Ratheim savings and loan fund

In the spring of 1898, the savings and loan fund Ratheim eG was founded. In 1968 she took over the savings and credit bank Hilfarth, founded on March 25, 1898.

Keyenberg savings and loan fund

On March 2, 1896, the Keyenberger savings and loan association eGmuH was established with its seat in Keyenberg. The first board of directors consisted of Joseph Dewies, Heinrich Jansen senior, Theodor Rümes, Leonhard Amend and Wilhelm Corsten. In 1953, the cooperative was renamed the savings and loan fund Keyenberg-Unterwestrich und Umgebung eGmuH .

Volksbank Wegberg

Merger with Volksbank Mönchengladbach eG

On June 29, 2017, the meeting of representatives of Volksbank Mönchengladbach eG approved the merger with Volksbank Erkelenz eG. Both banks have been one company since October 12, 2017.

Community foundation of the Volksbank Erkelenz

On December 1, 2014, Volksbank Erkelenz founded a community foundation in Neuss with the help of the German Foundation Agency .
