history
Volksbank Lübeck was founded in 1952 in the Dr. Julius-Leber-Straße 2–5 founded. In 1954 she acquired the site of the Buddenbrookhaus, which was bombed down to the basement and facade in 1942, at Mengstrasse 4, and began to rebuild. On June 24, 1957, the new bank rooms in the Buddenbrookhaus are opened. On June 10, 1971, Volksbank Lübeck merged with Landbank, which was founded in 1902. Only one month later, the new bank building at Klingenberg 1–5 is occupied and opened. The bank can still be found at this address today. In 1990, Volksbank Lübeck gave the Buddenbrookhaus, made famous by the Lübeck Nobel Prize for Literature Thomas Mann, to the Hanseatic City of Lübeck, which set up today's Heinrich and Thomas Mann Center of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck Cultural Foundation there. Volksbank Lübeck is still one of the sponsors of the Buddenbrookhaus today.
In June 2012, the merger with Raiffeisenbank Travemünde eG was resolved retrospectively to January 1, 2012.
