Census in Austria-Hungary 1900
In Austria-Hungary , a census was carried out in 1900 , as before in 1890, in both states of the dual monarchy. It was based on an agreement of the cisleithan k.k. Government in Vienna and the Transleithan k.u. Government in Budapest .
The census showed that the total population of the Austrian half of the empire was 25,815,831 people. The capital and residence city of Vienna was by far the most populous city of the dual monarchy (1,674,957 inhabitants), followed in Cisleithanien (= in the Austrian half of the empire) by Prague (201,589), Lemberg (159,877), Graz (138,080), Brno (109,346 ), Krakow (91,323) and Chernivtsi (67,622).
The 1910 census in Austria-Hungary was the last before the First World War.
