Fully veiled (original title: Cherchez la femme ) is a French comedy film with Camélia Jordana and Félix Moati from 2017. It is the first feature film by the director Sou Abadi , who also wrote the screenplay.

In her debut feature film, Sou Abadi, a native of Iran, targets everyone: Armand's feminist mother and the communist father, both of whom fled Iran during the Shah's time, Leila's naive, fanatical brother, the traditional form of marriage for a dowry of 40 camels , the divergences between Shiites and Sunnis as well as the middle-class, apparently enlightened Parisians and their burqa-hunting police.
It's a culture clash comedy with a few slapstick scenes. The starting point of the comedy is centuries old: a man dresses up as a woman, lisps in a disguised voice and stumbles in pumps - like Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon in Billy Wilder's Some Like It Hot . "People from Muslim countries in particular suffer and suffer most from the fact that terror has broken through the borders with the West," said the director in a conversation about Iranian society, laughter as therapy and religious extremism.
Two political science students, Armand and Leila, fell in love. They apply for a joint internship at the United Nations in New York - until Mahmoud, Leila's older brother, returns from Yemen. He has changed radically, destroyed his sister's cell phone and forbade her to leave the apartment. To be able to see Leila, Armand has to transform into the fully veiled Scheherazade - and fascinates the strict Mahmoud with his beautiful eyes and high voice, with piety and cleverness.
The film “is a pleasurable cinematic tightrope walk along several borders, for example that of political correctness or that between realism and absurdity. The trailer was released on YouTube on May 4, 2017. The preview took place on June 9, 2017 at the Gaumont Multiplexe de Montpellier in the presence of the director and the two main actors. The film was released on June 28, 2017 in France and on December 28, 2017 in Austria and Germany.
