In 1981 the famous writer Antonio Albajara (Antonio Ferrandis) returned to his hometown Gijón . Here he is received with all honors. He has just come from Stockholm , where he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. For 42 years, Albajara was Professor of Medieval Literature at the University of Berkeley in California , alternating his teaching activities with his writing, which brought him worldwide fame. Unfortunately, the reason for his return is actually a sad one: he is terminally ill. In his hometown he searches for everything that he left behind in his youth, when he was exiled during the civil war in 1937 and became a well-known author in Mexico and the USA . In doing so, he encounters his past, such as his old friend Roxiu, with whom he once played on the local soccer team. Antonio also gets back together with Elena - his first love, which was also his great love.
