Course directory
The course catalog ( VV ) (outdated: lesson catalog) is the compilation of the courses offered at a university for the semester .
Often, annotated course catalogs are also offered, which contain brief descriptions of the courses, sometimes also references to important literature on the topic or similar. Lecture directories are published by the university itself or by the individual faculties , subjects or institutes ; they often also contain a list of the staff working at the university (as a staff and course directory , PVV ) with details of contact details and other information important for students (office hours, secretariats, etc.). At some universities, annotated course directories are also published by the student councils for the individual subjects or other student representatives.
Although are increasingly printed course catalogs through the Internet (as in the case of many or US - universities ) even in intranets published replaced, which they usually take the form of in campus management systems embedded " digital receive structure trees". The consequences of this development for functionality and reading have not yet been researched. In the meantime, however, annotated course catalogs are being provided as printed paper brochures in order to counteract the confusion of digital university information systems .
