Wacław Waldemar Michalski (born September 27, 1938 in Włodzimierz Wołyński ) is a Polish poet , librarian , editor , curator and literary critic .

Life

Waldemar Michalski completed his education in 1956 at the Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. "S. Czarnieckiego ”in Chełm and studied Polish philology at the Catholic University of Lublin , which he completed in 1963 with a master's degree . At the same time he became a member of the literary group "Prom" and later, together with Wacław Oszajca , also of the group "Signum". His prose debut was in "Tygodnik Społeczno-Kulturalny Katolików" with a report on Poland in Lviv ("Polacy ziemi lwowskiej"), as a poet in 1960 in the almanac "Biuletyn Młodego Twórcy" with the poem "Poezja Starego Miasta".

From 1962 to 1985 he was the curator of the university library at the Catholic University of Lublin, and from 1977 lecturer in Polish language and culture. Michalski has been a member since 1978 and has been a member of the board of the Writers' Union since 1986. Since 1985 he has been secretary of the literary magazine "Akcent". His texts and reviews have appeared in numerous magazines. He also worked on over 30 editions with foreword or epilogue, selection or editing, etc. a. also on the German-Polish anthology Lubliner Lift and on the Polish-Ukrainian annual “Dialog Dwóch Kultur”. In 1995 he was with Bogusław Wróblewski and Bohdan Zadura initiator for the establishment of the Eastern Cultural Foundation "Akcent" and is its secretary. Waldemar Michalski took part in the German-Polish poetry festival "wortlust" in Lublin in 1995.

Waldemar Michalski also published under the pseudonyms WM, Wacław Wołyński, WaM, Wami.
