The Wachthubel [ (d̥ə) ʋ̥ɑxtˈhʊb̥u ] is the main summit of the Obere Fluh in the eastern Bernese Pre-Alps . The three communities Eggiwil and Schangnau in the upper Emmental and Escholzmatt-Marbach in Entlebuch meet there.
The top of the unwooded dome offers a beautiful panoramic view of the rolling hills of the Emmental and the chains of the Hohgant and Schrattenfluh . It was the location of a high watch attested in 1782 , which is also indicated by its current name; This is a combination of the words Hubel 'elevation', which is still widespread in western German-speaking Switzerland (but rare in Entlebuch names) , as a trailing element.
The summit is designated as Oberberg on the Dufour map .
