Wai Kin Yong (* 1991 ) is a Malaysian poker player . He is the son of Richard Yong .

Poker career

Career

Yong has been taking part in renowned live tournaments since 2011 .

At the beginning of October 2013, Yong made the money at the main event of the European Poker Tour in London and finished 44th, worth the equivalent of just under 20,000 US dollars . In mid-June 2014 he was successful for the first time in the main tournament series of the World Series of Poker in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and cashed in a tournament in the No Limit Hold'em variant . In September 2016, Yong won a tournament in the Triton Super High Roller Series founded by his father Richard in Manila and secured a prize money equivalent to just under $ 800,000. At the beginning of November 2016, he also prevailed at the main event of the Triton Series in Parañaque and received the main prize of more than two million dollars. In August 2019, Yong won the main event of the Triton Series in London and secured his highest prize money to date of more than three million dollars after a deal with Paul Phua . He then reached the final table at the Main Event in Short Deck and finished second for the equivalent of more than $ 2.2 million. Controversy

Yong was arrested along with his father Richard Yong in July 2014 on charges of illegally betting on 2014 World Cup matches .
