Richard Yong (born December 25, 1957 ; actually Seng Chen Yong ) is a Malaysian businessman and poker player .

Poker career

Career

Yong only plays in super expensive poker tournaments . He is the founder of the Triton Super High Roller Series poker tournament series , which is played around three times a year and for which the buy-ins are the equivalent of at least 25,000 US dollars .

Yong played the World Series of Poker's Big One for One Drop in 2012 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for a $ 1 million buy-in. There he reached the final table and for his eighth place received prize money of around 1.25 million US dollars. In late September 2012, Yong finished second in the Aspers 100K High Roller in London for £ 570,000 . At the World Series of Poker Europe 2012 in Cannes he played the Majestic Roller and landed in third place for 400,000 euros . In mid-April 2013, Yong finished second behind Joseph Cheong at the Manila Millions in the Philippines for the equivalent of just under 850,000 US dollars. Controversy

Yong and his son Wai Yong were arrested in July 2014 for illegally betting on 2014 World Cup matches .
