chronology
Being as an Ocean (2015) Waiting for Morning to Come -

Waiting for Morning to Come is the title of the fourth studio album by the American melodic hardcore band Being as an Ocean . Originally announced for July 9, 2017, the release of the album was initially postponed for reasons unknown. The reason for the postponement of the album was a legal dispute between the band and their label Equal Vision Records regarding the licensing, which led the musicians to buy themselves out of the record deal and initially release the album on their own on a digital level.

The album was initially released digitally on September 8, 2017; the work was released on CD and record on November 3rd of the same year via Impericon Records , which had previously also released the second album How We Both Wondrously Parish in Europe.

As single releases Dissolve , Thorns and Black and Blue were released in advance. The total of fourteen tracks, the album has a total playing length of 49 minutes and 56 seconds.

background

The musicians began writing new pieces while they were on the Warped Tour in 2015. At the end of February 2016, the group announced that they had left their previous label inVogue Records and switched to Equal Vision Records . On the same day, a first musical foretaste was presented with Dissolve . Writing this song alone took about three to four months. At the end of 2016, the album was announced for June 9, 2017.

Litigation with Equal Vision Records

After the album was not released on the day previously announced by the band and no news about the album was announced a week later, it was speculated what could have led to the delay. According to an article by Kill Your Stereo , the musicians said they would contact their label Equal Vision Records if they had any questions about the whereabouts of the album, as they owned the finished album.

In July 2017 it became known that the musicians were in a legal dispute with their record company regarding the licensing of the songs. On August 20, 2017, Being as announced to Ocean that they had bought themselves out of the contract with the label and that they wanted to release the album soon. In order to be able to buy himself out of the record deal, Tyler Ross had to pay all his savings to the label. In an interview with Alternative Press , Ross said that he had already thought about parting with her label at the beginning of the year.

publication

Five days after the announcement that they had separated from their label Equal Vision Records , Thorns was released as an indie band and the second single after Dissolve , which was released in early 2016. At the end of August 2017, Black & Blue became the album's third single.

The album itself was officially announced for September 8, 2017 at the end of August. However, the musicians announced that they would release the album 36 hours before the official release, which means that the album was initially released on September 6, 2017 on a digital level. A publication on the physical level will take place on November 3rd of the same year.
