Waldemar Atzpodien

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hermann Theodor Waldemar Atzpodien (born March 17, 1834 in Lichtenberg near Berlin , † December 19, 1910 in Berlin) was an owner of the Atzpodienchen estate in the then Lichtenberg community and a local politician. He has made a particular contribution to the infrastructural development of his place of residence. In recognition of his services, the former private street (on Frankfurter Allee) was renamed Atzpodienstraße around 1898.

Life

Atzpodien was the son of the Lichtenberg landowner Carl Ehrhard Atzpodien, his mother was Caroline Wilhelmine, née Mosel. Waldemar trained as a carpenter and took over his father's estate in what was then the Niederbarnim district . He worked as a bailiff in the municipal administration. After he retired ( Rentier ), the first communal facilities such as a community school, a hospital , the district court , gas and electricity works and a number of residential buildings were built on the former Atzpodienschen Gut by the specially founded Berlin-Lichtenberger Terrain-Actien-Gesellschaft . Atzpodien himself withdrew to a villa in the north-western suburb of Berlin (formerly Richard-Wagner-Straße 10 , today's district of Berlin-Reinickendorf , Ortwinstraße). The street on which his estate was located was named after him while Waldemar Atzpodien was still alive.

Waldemar Atzpodien was one of several children, later married and had (at least) one daughter.
