Valentin Yegorowitsch Kusin ( Russian Валентин Егорович Кузин ; born September 23, 1926 in Novosibirsk , Russian SFSR ; † August 13, 1994 in Moscow ) was a Russian Olympic champion , ice hockey and football player .

Career

As a child and adolescent, Valentin Kusin mainly played soccer and bandy, and mainly through the latter sport, she developed a high speed ice skating. In 1948 he made his debut for Dynamo Novosibirsk in the Russian Regional Championship, the third-highest Soviet Hockey League, and rose with his club into the second league, the Klass B on. He played for Novosibirsk until 1950, before the football and bandy coach, Mikhail Jakuschin , from Dynamo Moscow noticed Kusin and brought him to Moscow. There he first played football as a midfielder, among others with Lev Yashin , and in 1950 he played in the top football league of the USSR. Then the club's ice hockey coach, Arkady Tschernyschow , convinced him to concentrate entirely on ice hockey.

In the following eleven seasons, Kusin completed a total of 255 games for Dynamo Moscow , in which he scored 156 goals. He was also Soviet champion with Dynamo in 1954 and runner-up in 1951, 1959 and 1960. He also reached the final of the USSR Cup twice with Dynamo, in 1955 and 1956.

After the end of his career, Kusin worked as a toolmaker and locksmith. He died in Moscow on August 13, 1994 and was buried in the Miusskoye Cemetery .

International

In 1953 Kusin took part in the Winter Universiade , where he completed his first international game and won the gold medal.

In 1954, Kusin was appointed to the newly formed Soviet national team and completed his first international match against Finland on January 29, 1954. Two months later he won the gold medal with the Sbornaya at the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1954 and was then awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR .

A year later , the national team won the silver medal with Kusin. His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1956 Winter Olympics , where he scored the decisive 2-0 in the final against Canada.

For the national team, he scored a total of 27 goals in 50 international matches. On December 29, 1956, he played his last international match.
