Valeri Qasaishvili ( Georgian ვალერი ყაზაიშვილი , FIFA spelling after English transcription: Valeri Qazaishvili ; born January 29, 1993 in Osurgeti ), also known as Vako (ვაკო), is a Georgian football player . The offensive midfielder has since July 2017 in the MLS - Franchise San Jose Earthquakes under contract.

Career

Qasaishvili started playing soccer at FC Saburtalo Tbilisi in his home country of Georgia . For the capital club, however, he did not come to a single use in the first team. Despite moderately successful loan deals with Metalurgi Rustawi and Sioni Bolnissi , he ventured to Europe to Vitesse Arnhem in August 2011 . After convincing in the U-19 team, he made his debut on November 27, 2011 in a 1-1 draw against Twente Enschede , when he replaced his Georgian team-mate Giorgi Tschanturia in the starting lineup. A week later, he scored his first goal for Vitesse in a 4-0 win over RKC Waalwijk . In his first season 2011/12 Qasaishvili came on a total of four missions. In his second season he played mostly with the 2nd team in the Beloften Eredivisie . Only in the following season 2013/14 was he allowed to play more in the first team, but mainly as a substitute. In 26 league appearances, he scored four goals and prepared two more. He made it into the Vitesses starting lineup in the 2014/15 season . In the furious 6-2 away win at FC Dordrecht on September 27, 2014, he scored the first hat trick of his career. in 33 league games he scored nine goals and assisted five more. In the following season he netted ten times for his club.

On August 31, 2016 Qasaishvili switched to the Polish top club Legia Warsaw on loan for a year . In the 6-0 home defeat in the Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund , he made his debut in the Wojskowi jersey . He scored his first and only league goal for Legia in a 6-0 home win over Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza . Although he won the league title with the capital city club, the loan deal was still disappointing for him. He only made 12 league appearances, in which he was mostly substituted in the final phase. After the end of the 2016/17 season , he returned to the Netherlands.

On June 22, 2017, Vako Qasaishvilis moved to the United States to join the San José Earthquakes . When Major League Soccer - franchise from the state of California , he signed as " Designated Player " means a contract by the end of 2018. His debut he played on July 14 in a friendly match against the Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt . He made his league debut on July 19 when he came on as a substitute for Danny Hoesen at halftime break in the game against the New York Red Bulls . In the 5-1 defeat at the Red Bull Arena , he scored the only goal for the Earthquakes. By the end of the 2017 season, he had scored five goals in 13 appearances. In the following season, 2018 , he scored ten times in 33 games and prepared four goals. He closed the 2019 game year with eight goals and six assists in 32 league games.

National team

Qasaishvili represented his home country Georgia in various U-national teams before he made his debut for the A-selection in the friendly against Liechtenstein on March 5, 2014 . He scored his first goal just under a year later in a 2-0 home win in the friendly against Malta .
