Today's Walle emerged from the medieval Scheverlingenburg , which was first mentioned in a document in 1091. Its decline is believed to be in the 14th century. The forerunner of the castle was a hill fort with a mighty rampart from the pre-Roman Iron Age between the fifth and seventh centuries BC that is up to ten meters high . The place name Walle refers to the old ramparts: The population lived in the Walle or on the Walle .
In 1800 the new school building was built. In 1855 a brick factory was built, which was demolished in 1938. Several buildings were badly damaged during the Second World War on February 29, 1944. A direct hit in the hairdresser's house killed four adults and three children.
