The first written mention of Lagesbütle is in 1191 under the name "Lewardesbutle". In terms of settlement history, Lagesbüttel is one of the Büttel localities. If it was initially assumed that “Lewardesbutle” referred to a desert , the connection to today's Lagesbüttel could later be proven through the various place names.
The Welfe Otto the child , Otto IV's nephew, received Lagesbüttel in 1235 as an imperial fiefdom of the Duchy of Braunschweig-Lüneburg . Later there were disputes between the Lüneburg-Cellern and the Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttelern over the area. 1318 gave Baldwin of turning the Riddagshausen Abbey half the village Querum in exchange for the former Lauredesbutle.
As a result, the village was plundered in 1380 and almost completely destroyed in the so-called "Great Fire" in 1387. According to the feudal register of Bishop Gottfried v. Minden (around 1300) monks owned four farms in Lauwerdesbuttle . After the reconstruction, five farms and two Kothöfe are documented for 1583. In 1713 a Kruger and a tailor also came to Lagesbüttel. The old schoolhouse was built around 1800 and is now located in the lower village. It was incorporated into the Gifhorn district in 1885.

Economy and Infrastructure
Economic development
Until the Second World War, Lagesbüttel was characterized purely by agriculture. It was not until the 1960s that it became a community from which most people commute , in particular due to the proximity to the VW plant and the general economic situation.
In 1990 there was a supermarket, a bank, a post office, a beverage shop, an inn and two car companies in the small village. In the following years, however, it was rationalized and the supermarket, bank and post office moved to larger neighborhoods. After the "Innovationspark Lagesbüttel" industrial area was established in the northeast, more and more companies are settling on the outskirts.
Public facilities
- School system : In the village there is a kindergarten as part of the general welfare and since 2003 a sports center with a sports hall. The former primary school was converted into a day nursery in 2014.
- Fire brigade and civil protection : Voluntary fire brigade .
