The pilgrimage church of St. Anthony of Padua is visible from afar on a hill in the municipality of Rietz in the Imst district in Tyrol . The Roman Catholic pilgrimage church , consecrated to the Immaculate Conception and Saint Anthony of Padua , belongs to the Telfs deanery in the Diocese of Innsbruck . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

In the second half of the 17th century, the worship of St. Anthony of Padua in Tyrol. In 1666, the native of Rietz, Peter Grasmayr, had a small church with an altar in honor of St. Build Antony. It was built in 1757 by today's baroque building, the Immaculate Conception in 1761 and St. Anthony of Padua was consecrated, replaced according to plans by Johann Michael Umhauser.

In 1697 an early Mass was set up at the church and a widum was built. A hermit lived by the church in the 18th century. In 1947 the tower was destroyed by fire and then rebuilt in its old form.

The main facade with a triangular gable and a pilaster frame faces north towards the valley. Part of the facade is the slender tower with round-arched twin windows in the bell storey and onion helmet with attached lantern . The nave is structured by strong pilaster strips .

The interior consists of a four-bay nave and a single-bay choir, which are separated from each other by a retracted triumphal arch . The room has a barrel vault with stitch caps on pilasters with rococo capitals . The two-story north gallery rests on columns, its parapet is decorated with rococo stucco.

The ceiling paintings were created by Johann Michael Strickner in 1757 . In the nave they show the donkey miracle of St. Anthony, above the gallery St. Anthony, in the vaults the legend of Antonius and the four Latin church fathers Ambrosius , Hieronymus , Augustine , Gregory and in the choir vault the Virgin and St. Antonius, Bernhard and Francis .

The high altar is from the 19th century, the side altars are from the 18th century. On the right side altar is the statue of grace of St. Antonius between the  statues of hll created by Johann Reindl . Peter and Paul. The pulpit is marked 1761. The windows were created around 1912/14 by the Tyrolean glass painting and mosaic institute  .
