Sir Walter Beaupré Townley KCMG ( January 8, 1863 , † 1945 ) was a British diplomat .

Life

Walter Beaupre Townley married Lady Susan Mary (* 1868, † 1953) in 1896. On April 27, 1896, he was appointed Counselor in Constantinople , and on November 4, 1901, he was appointed Secretary of the First Class in Beijing .

From 1906 to 1910 he served as British ambassador in Buenos Aires , Argentina, then from 1911 to 1912 in Bucharest , Romania , then from 1912 to 1916 in Tehran , and finally from 6 November 1917 to 1919 in The Hague .

From 1924 he headed Independent Oil Distributing , which is operated through its subsidiary Russian Oil Products Ltd. Distributed petroleum products from the Soviet Union.
