The Geierwally is a comedy film from 1987 and a parody of traditional homeland films , especially the classic story of Geierwally . The German theatrical release was on January 28, 1988; since the end of 2006 the film has also been available on DVD as Walter Bockmayers Geierwally .

action

The "Geierwally" refuses to marry the inheritance stalker Vinzenz according to her father's wishes. She is in love with the hunter "Bear Joseph", but he does not want to know anything about her. As a punishment, her father sends her into exile on an alpine pasture, where she is supposed to come to her senses.

Meanwhile, at the father’s court, Vincent takes the helm. When Wally hears about it, she decides to resist and chases Vinzenz from the court. Afra, the secret daughter of Joseph, mistakenly thinks she is his lover and decides to get them both out of the way. When the jealous Vinzenz Joseph pushes down the mountain, Wally climbs up after him and saves him, which ultimately earns her his affection.

Reviews

Newsflex.de thinks that the film is a great grotesque that rushes through all the clichés of Heimatfilm with unrestrained tastelessness and pure, sometimes nasty ridicule.
The lexicon of international films thinks that Die Geierwally is an over-the-top, not always tasteful parody of homeland films from the 50s with a cascade of more or less funny ideas.
TV Spielfilm thinks Die Geierwally is … a garish, disrespectful mix of musical, folk theater, slapstick and transentrash by Walter Bockmeyer. Thumbs up!
