Walter Dorn

Walter Dorn (born August 31, 1891 in Prussian Stargard in West Prussia, † February 8, 1957 in Bremen ) was a German publisher .

biography

Dorn was with the Imperial Navy before and during World War I and was most recently a naval officer. In 1918 he was a member of the Workers 'and Soldiers' Council in Wilhelmshaven . In 1920 he was released from military service and from that year represented a Berlin publishing house in Bremen.

In 1923 Dorn founded the Walter Dorn Verlag in Bremen-Horn , which published scientific and aesthetic literature, a. a. Works on spatial planning and on districts in Lower Saxony , biographies, commercial non-fiction books and the large atlas Lower Saxony.

In 1926 he also founded the industrial and commercial publishing house Walter Dorn , which u. a. Published address books and company manuals.

After the Second World War , subsidiary publishers were set up in Bielefeld , Hamburg , Hanover and Frankfurt am Main .

Also in the post-war period , the publishing house, to which a large printing company was affiliated, had its Hanoverian headquarters in the Wülfel district in the mid-1950s at the address Hildesheimer Chaussee 152 at the time .

The two publishers existed until 1981 even after Dorn's death.
