Walter Hans Schultze

Walter Hans Schultze (born June 15, 1880 in Tokyo , † April 27, 1964 ) was a German doctor and university professor . From 1909 to 1949 he was head of the pathological institute at the state hospital in Braunschweig .

Life

Schultze's parents were the Tokyo surgeon Wilhelm Schultze and his wife Emma nee. Wegscheider. He grew up in Stettin , where his father became the boss in 1883. He studied medicine at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and the Friedrich Wilhelms University of Berlin . The doctorate was followed in 1907 by the habilitation at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . In Braunschweig, on October 15, 1909, Schultze became Robert Borrmann's successor prosector and head of the pathological institute of the Ducal Hospital on Celler Strasse . In addition, he continued to give lectures at the University of Göttingen. At the Technical University of Braunschweig he received a lectureship for bacteriology and hygiene as an adjunct professor . From 1921 to 1929 he was a city councilor. He campaigned for the establishment of the municipal health department and was chairman of the Braunschweig doctors' association for many years. He died in 1964 on a trip to the Alps. His son Norbert Schultze became known as a composer and conductor. His son was Norbert Schultze junior .

Honors

In 1913, Schultze was awarded the title of professor. Walter-Hans-Schultze-Straße in the Braunschweig district of Kanzlerfeld is named after him.
