Walter Hohnhausen (born October 3, 1945 ) is a former German football player .

Career

Before starting his professional career, Walter Hohnhausen played as an amateur at 1. FC Rentweinsdorf. From 1967 to 1969 he played in what was then the second -rate regional soccer league at 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 . Under coach Jenö Vincze , it was enough for teammates Kurt Dachlauer , Dieter Höller and Manfred Linz to finish fifth in 1968 and sixth in 1969. After two seasons in Schweinfurt, the attacker joined league rivals FC 08 Villingen for the 1969/70 round . Under coach Rudolf Faßnacht , Villingen finished ninth and the 14-time goalscorer had drawn attention to the Bundesliga club Rot-Weiss Essen at the side of teammates Klaus Bockisch and Gerd Klier and moved to Hafenstrasse in the summer of 1970. Behind the 19-time goalscorer Willi Lippens , Hohnhausen scored the most goals of the team from Bergeborbeck in the 1970/71 season with nine goals. Despite a good start to the season under coach Herbert Burdenski , Essen could not prevent relegation towards the end of the season. Hohnhausen moved to Borussia Dortmund and thus continued to play in the upper house of German football. There he made his debut under coach Horst Witzler on the fourth game day, August 31, 1971, in a 3-1 home win against Eintracht Frankfurt. Ex-national player Jürgen Schütz scored all three BVB goals in this game. At the end of the 1971/72 season , Dortmund were on a relegation zone and had to go to the West Regional Football League . Thus, Hohnhausen has occupied a relegation place in the Bundesliga with his team in two consecutive seasons. With the descent of Borussia, he left the club. For the new season he played for 1. FC 01 Bamberg in the fourth-class Northern League in Bavaria.
