Walter Jauch

Walter Jauch (born August 13, 1888 in Hamburg ; † January 14, 1976 there ) was an insurance salesman and founder of the company .

Walter Jauch came from the Hamburg merchant family Jauch . His cousin was Colonel and Freikorpsführer Hans Jauch (1883-1965), his cousin by marriage the Major General and resistance fighter Hans Oster (1887-1945).

Before the First World War, Jauch met the businessman Otto Hübener in London and together with him, having returned from the war as Rittmeister of the Reserve, founded the insurance and reinsurance brokerage company Jauch & Hübener (now Aon Jauch & Hübener ) in Hamburg in 1919 . Thanks to Hübener's outstanding entrepreneurial personality, the company worked its way up to a top position within a short time. Jauch promoted the company through his family contacts to the Hamburg economy. As a result, Jauch & Hübener developed into the most important insurance and reinsurance broker on the continent. Jauch & Hübener were connected to the military resistance in the Third Reich through Jauch's cousin Hans Oster .

Jauch served in the 2nd Hanoverian Dragoon Regiment No. 16 in Lüneburg. He was the holder of the Iron Cross II. And I. Class and other awards in the First World War. He also served as a soldier in World War II. He was married to Gertrud Jauch (née Kähler). The only son Oswald died in World War II .
