Walter Kornfeld

Walter Johann Kornfeld (born September 18, 1917 in Vienna ; † November 11, 1988 there ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and theologian.

Life

Ordained a priest in 1940, he did military service until 1945 . After studying Oriental Studies and Egyptology at the University of Vienna and Biblical Studies at the Pontificio Istituto Biblico , he became Dr. theol. and lic. bibl. On January 8, 1952, he received the venia legendi for Bible study of the Old Covenant and the biblical-oriental languages. From 1956 he taught philosophy of religion, history of religion and psychology of religion. On April 14, 1958, he was appointed associate professor and on July 24, 1963, full professor of religious studies at the Theol.-Kath. Faculty of the University of Vienna appointed. In 1987 he retired .

He was a member of the Catholic student associations KaV Norica Vienna and KaV Marco-Danubia Vienna in the ÖCV .
