Walter Prell

Walter Prell (* 1857 in Leipzig , † 1936 in Munich ) was a German landscape and genre painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Like his older brother Hermann , Prell attended the Salzmann School in Schnepfenthal (1868–1870). From 1885 he studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . From 1889 to 1891 he was a pupil of Eugen Dücker's landscape class there . He also attended the Académie Julian under Jean-Paul Laurens and Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant . Study trips took him through France and the Netherlands . From 1891 to 1906 he visited Volendam . He lived in Paris until the beginning of the First World War , then in Znojmo .
