Walter Schlee (politician)

Walter Schlee (born January 5, 1915 in Wohldmühle near Bobzin ; † July 3, 2013 ) was a German politician ( NDPD ). From 1958 to 1967 he was a member of the People's Chamber in the GDR

Life

Schlee, the son of a craftsman, was born in Wohldmühle in the Hagenow district. He attended the village school in Bobzin and the elementary school in Hagenow . From 1929 to 1933 he learned the profession of electrician. Schlee joined the NSDAP on April 1, 1933 . In 1940 he passed the master craftsman examination in Berlin. During the Second World War he did military service in the Wehrmacht .

After the war, Schlee was an independent master electrician in Hagenow from 1945. In 1951 he became a member of the National Democratic Party of Germany (NDPD) and in 1955 a member of the Hagenow District Executive and the Schwerin District Executive . From 1956 to 1960 he was a member of the Hagenow district council. In 1958 Schlee founded the production cooperative for the electrical and radio mechanic trade (PGH) “1. May ”in Hagenow and became its first chairman. He represented the NDPD from 1958 to 1967 as a member of the People's Chamber and was a member of the Committee on Labor and Social Policy. In 1963 he attended the NDPD School of National Politics.

After the leveling of the Jewish cemetery, approved by the Jüdische Landesgemeinde Mecklenburg , he had a memorial stone erected from a boulder from the cemetery wall with the inscription: "THE MEMORY OF THE JEWISH VICTIMS OF FASCHISM. THE LIVING AS A WARNING".

Schlee was married and the father of eight children. He died at the age of 98.
