Walter Telemann

Walter Telemann (born February 8, 1882 in Königsberg i. Pr. , † November 20, 1941 ibid) was a German internist and radiologist.

Life

Telemann was a descendant of Georg Philipp Telemann . He attended the old town high school and studied medicine at the Albertus University of Königsberg and the Friedrichs University of Halle . He became a member of the Corps Masovia (1900) and the Corps Palaiomarchia (1902). In Königsberg he was awarded Dr. med. PhD. First in pathology at the Philipps University of Marburg , he went to Julius Schreiber in internal medicine at the Königsberg university clinics. At the Institute for Experimental Physics, he worked on the new X-ray technology . In 1911 he completed his habilitation in internal medicine. As a specialist , he opened a doctor's practice with an X-ray facility in Königsberg in 1913 . He took part in the First World War as a war volunteer and was the chief doctor of a fortress hospital. As a senior physician , he received the Iron Cross, 2nd class. From 1917 to 1919 he was a specialist medical adviser for radiology at the Deputy General Command of the 1st Army Corps . After the end of the war, he set up the first independent X-ray institute for diagnostics and therapy in East Prussia . In 1920 he founded the East German Association for Radiology and Light Therapy , of which he became 1st Chairman. After the association became part of the German Radiological Society , he became head of regional group I. He was appointed professor at the Albertus University . In 1934 he married Gerda Salewsky. He was a member of the German National People's Party and (from May 1, 1933) the National Socialist German Workers' Party .
