Walter Ungar

Walter Ungar (born November 29, 1885 in Aussig ; † February 22, 1945 in Krenglbach ) was an Austrian lawyer. He was district captain or district administrator of Grieskirchen and Wels-Land.

education and profession

After Ungar had attended elementary school in Schluckenau between 1891 and 1896 , he graduated from the state high school in Saaz and passed his Matura there on June 28, 1904 . He then studied from 1904 Heads of State and Law at the University of Prague , where he on December 9, 1911. Doctor doctorate .

His professional career began in Hungary in December 1911 as concept intern or official of the governor's office in Prague. On December 22nd, 1914, he was appointed Lieutenancy Concipist, although he had already been drafted into military service with the pioneers in August. He served in the rank of lieutenant colonel until December 1917 and was transferred to the Austrian civil service in 1918. He first worked for the state government of German Bohemia in Reichenberg and came to Vienna at the end of December 1918 . After his appointment as district commissioner in August 1919, Ungar moved to the district administration of Grieskirchen in October 1919 .

As a result, Ungar was employed as a civil servant and district commissioner at the Grieskirchen district authority until October 1931, where he was appointed state secretary on January 1, 1921. On December 20, 1922, Ungar was given the title of “District Captain” and on July 2, 1926, the title of “Provincial Government Council”. Between August 1, 1931 and December 6, 1936 he held the office of district captain of Grieskirchen, where he was appointed to the senior government council on June 23, 1932. From December 1936 to March 1938, Ungar was employed as a civil servant in the Upper Austrian provincial governing body, taking over the management of the water law department at the end of January 1937. From February 1938 until his death, Ungar was district captain or district administrator in the Wels-Land district , where he had temporarily taken over the office in September 1938 and was finally appointed district administrator on February 23, 1940.

Functions

Ungar joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) as early as 1920 and was active in the local group Grieskirchen. However, he interrupted his membership in the NSDAP in 1931 in connection with his appointment as district captain and did not rejoin the party until May 1936. In addition, however, he was also a member of the Fatherland Front between 1933 and 1938 . Ungar was a member of the Federation of Germans in Bohemia, the Südmark School Association , the German Red Cross (DRK), the Reich Air Protection Association (RLB), the Reich Association of German Civil Servants (RDB) and the National Socialist People's Welfare (NSV).

Ungar was married and had one child.
