Felipe de Jesús Estévez
Felipe de Jesús Estévez (born February 5, 1946 in Pedro Betancourt ) is Bishop of Saint Augustine .
Life
Felipe de Jesús Estévez was ordained priest on May 30, 1970 for the Cuban diocese of Matanzas . He was incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Miami in February 1979 . He studied theology at the University of Montreal (licentiate, 1970) and Barry University (master, 1977); at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, he completed a doctoral degree to become Doctor theologiae (1980). He is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Italian.
Pope John Paul II named him auxiliary bishop in Miami and titular bishop of Kearney on November 21, 2003 . The Archbishop of Miami, John Clement Favalora , donated him episcopal ordination on January 7 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Pedro Claro Meurice Estiu , Archbishop of Santiago de Cuba , and Thomas James Olmsted , Bishop of Phoenix . As a motto he chose In finem dilexit eos .
He was named Bishop of Saint Augustine on April 27, 2011, and was instituted on June 2 of the same year.
Felipe de Jesús Estévez is Grand Officer of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
