Walter Wallmann (born February 26, 1962 in Marburg ) is a German lawyer and has been President of the Hessian Court of Audit since 2013 .

Studies and PhD

Walter Wallmann completed an apprenticeship as a bank clerk at Deutsche Bank after graduating from high school in Frankfurt am Main . He then studied law at the University of Frankfurt am Main . He completed his studies in 1994 with the 2nd state examination in law.

In 1995 he was awarded the title of Doctor of Law for his doctoral thesis on “Rights and duties of banks in criminal proceedings to combat organized crime” . After completing his studies, Wallmann worked for the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW).

In 2001 Wallmann ran unsuccessfully for the office of mayor of Idstein; as a candidate of the CDU he received 49.5% in the runoff election and was thus defeated by the SPD candidate Gerhard Krum (50.5%).

President of the Hessian Court of Auditors

In 1997 he moved to the Hessian Court of Audit. In 2011 he was appointed head of the “Supraregional auditing of municipal bodies” department. A year later, he was appointed director. Since July 1, 2013 he has been President of the Hessian Court of Auditors. Like his predecessor Manfred Eibelshäuser , he is also the Hessian state representative for economic efficiency in administration. Wallmann's term of office as President of the Court of Auditors runs until 2025. It cannot be extended.

family

Walter Wallmann is the son of the former Hessian Prime Minister , Walter Wallmann . His uncle Wilhelm Wallmann was Wiesbaden's mayor, his daughter, his cousin Astrid Wallmann , was elected to the Hessian state parliament in the state elections in Hesse in 2009 .
