Walter William Curtis

Walter William Curtis (born May 3, 1913 in Jersey City , † October 18, 1997 ) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Bridgeport .

Life

Walter William Curtis received on 18 December 1937, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on June 27, 1957 auxiliary bishop in Newark and titular bishop of Bisica . The Archbishop of Newark, Thomas Aloysius Boland , ordained him episcopal on September 24 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Paterson , James Aloysius McNulty , and the Bishop of Trenton , George William Ahr .

On September 23, 1961, Pope John XXIII appointed Curtis as Bishop of Bridgeport . He was inducted into office on November 21 of the same year.

Walter William Curtis attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation on June 28, 1988.
