Career
ice Hockey
America
Brad Self played his first OHL season in 1998 for the Peterborough Petes . There he stood on the ice for four seasons. With each season he was able to record more goals and assists. It was founded in 1999 in the NHL Entry Draft in the eighth round at the 235th place of the Buffalo Sabers drafted.
After spending four years in his hometown of Peterborough, Self moved to Saint Mary's University Halifax . For their ice hockey team, which was represented in the Atlantic University Sports League, he stormed for four seasons. In his last season at St. Mary's University he received the award for the fairest player (Most Sportsmanlike Player).
Europe
For the 2006/07 season, Brad Self moved to the German ice hockey league for ten-time German champions SC Riessersee , which is based in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. He signed with the White-Blue for three years. There he was able to achieve a proud 34 goals and 42 assists, i.e. 76 points scorer, in 46 games, which should be his personal best. He made promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga with SC Riessersee this season . In the 2008/09 season, however, Self could only complete 36 season games, because an injury forced him to take a two-month break. After the originally agreed three years at SC Riessersee, he extended his contract for another year for the 2009/10 season. This happened despite several disagreements between Self and SCR manager Ralph Bader .
After this season, Self moved to Bremerhaven and completed the 2010/11 season in the dress of the Fischtown Pinguins . There he met his friend Chris Stanley . With him, Self was already on the ice in the 2008/09 season at SC Riessersee.
After the season with the Pinguins, Self announced his retirement from active ice hockey in 2011 in order to be able to devote himself 100% to lacrosse.
lacrosse
In his younger years, Brad Self played parallel to ice hockey, which he was doing in winter at that time, and lacrosse in summer. With this sport he kept fit between the ice hockey seasons.
Self was also drafted in lacrosse: in 2001 by the Buffalo Bandits . So he is arguably one of the few athletes who was drafted in two different professional sports in the same city.
Self played for the Colorado Mammoth , the Philadelphia Wings and the Peterborough Lakers , among others . After retiring from professional ice hockey, Self has already won the NLL Champion's Cup (2012) and the Mann Cup (2012) with the latter .
