Walther Fischer (lawyer)
Walther Fischer (born October 27, 1883 in Tianjin , China , † March 22, 1954 in Hamburg ) was a German CDU politician .
Walther Fischer came to Hamburg at the age of one and a half. He studied in Freiburg and Berlin law . In 1902 he became a member of the Franconia Freiburg fraternity . After receiving his doctorate, he opened a law firm in Hamburg in 1912 and was later a member of the Wassermann / Bußmann / Fischer law firm. From 1922 he sat on the board of the Hanseatic Bar Association and since 1926 as a board member of the German Bar Association (DAV). In 1924 he received his doctorate and three years later became professor of civil law, civil procedure, bankruptcy, copyright and patent law at the University of Hamburg .
After the Nazi era , he was elected President of the Hamburg Bar Association in 1945 and later also Chairman of the Working Group of the German Bar Association.
In 1946, Fischer was appointed to the Appointed Citizenship by the British occupying power as a representative of the University of Hamburg . In his role as a member of parliament and a lawyer, he was secretary in the constitutional committee that drafted the provisional constitution - adopted on May 15, 1946 - for Hamburg. Initially independent, he joined the CDU parliamentary group in June 1946 with the group around Mayor Rudolf Petersen . On October 13, 1946, he entered the first freely elected Hamburg parliament since 1933 for the CDU. He was a member of parliament only in the first electoral term until 1949. During this time he also took over the chairmanship of the CDU parliamentary group from October 1946 to the beginning of 1949 and was vice-president of the citizenship. From 1947 to 1953 he was also a member of the prison deputation.
In 1951 he was appointed constitutional judge.
