Walts Gott was a tin mine on the Hinteren Rabenberg in the Johanngeorgenstadt mining district in the western Ore Mountains .

history

The Walts Gott Fundgrube was muted in 1700 not far from the Niederdorfer Weg, which leads from Johanngeorgenstadt over the Rabenberg to Breitenbrunn . In the 18th century an extensive mine with a treasure trove, 13 lower dimensions , some upper dimensions, extensive underground facilities and, at times, up to five stamping works , which were mainly located in the Seifenbachtal , developed. In addition, the stamp mill belonging to Steiger Johann Georg Kircheis on the Rabenberg was purchased. The mine workings were provided with two artificial wheels , which were supplied with impact water via two artificial ditches .

The Prussian Oberbergrat Johann Jakob Ferber, who drove on the mine, gives a description of its dimensions in 1778:

“I drove through the open pit, as it says on the granite walkway, 19 L. almost down to the upper tunnel, where a 14 ells high artificial bike has been prepared. Furthermore through the artificial shaft (which is 24 l. Deep) 20 l down on the 20 lachter section; on this 8 L. towards morning, where the granite duct in and between slate was found to be thick in 2 rubble of 1 to 1½ cubit each. ... Under the 20 L. section 4 L. there is a new section of the artificial shaft 13 L. deep, except for the bench construction, which is extended towards morning and evening and carries 50 L. "

- Johann Jakob Ferber

In 1755 Neugart von Gartenberg am Rabenberg above the Haberlandmühle ordered the creation of the Tiefen Walts Gotter Erbstolln by the Walts Gotter Fundgrübner and Maßner, the appropriateness of which was questioned by both the mines involved and the responsible mining authority Johanngeorgenstadt.

Since more and more impact water was required, the trades endeavored to be awarded the Old and New Blessings of God as well as Streitseifener Stollnwasser at the mining office in the Bohemian mountain town of Platten . The award was made on the condition that the water rights can also be terminated at short notice if the Bohemian mines required their own water. However, the latter was not the case. The water was dammed near the Preisshaus and led to the stamp mill in an artificial ditch . There were willful blockages of the pond floods several times, which severely hampered the operation of the stamp mill.

The mine had its own colliery house , which consisted of a kaue with a room used as a prayer room, but burned down due to a candle that was left burning. The aboveground relics of the pit and its dump are still very well recognizable in the wooded area, but not signposted.
