Wamberto de Jesus Sousa Campos (born December 13, 1974 in Maranhão , Brazil ) is a former Brazilian soccer player .

Career

Wamberto began his career at Moto Club de São Luis and was then under contract with Sampaio Corrêa FC until 1991 . In 1991 he moved to RFC Seraing , where he was under contract in the youth division until 1993 and in the professional league from 1993 to 1996. Then he went to Standard Liege . In 1998 he signed a contract with Ajax Amsterdam . There he scored the equalizer for 2-2 in the 90th minute of the final of the KNVB Cup in the game against FC Utrecht . The game went into extra time and Ajax won 3-2 with a goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the 95th minute. When winning the national championship with Ajax in the 2001/02 season , Wamberto contributed 9 goals in 39 games.

In January 2004 Wamberto was loaned to the RAEC Mons in Belgium for 18 months . The contract included a purchase option. Due to the relegation of Mons at the end of the season, he returned to Standard Liège for three years. In the 2006/07 season he went back to RAEC Mons. Later in his career he was under contract with three smaller clubs. In 2011 he ended his career.
