The Warder Zone is an administrative zone of the Somali region in Ethiopia . It is located in the far east of the region on the border with Somalia and forms the easternmost zone of all of Ethiopia. The capital of the zone is Warder (Wardheer, Werder).

According to the Central Statistics Agency of Ethiopia for 2005, the Warder Zone had 401,993 residents, of whom 36,824 (9.2%) lived in urban areas. In 1997, 99.9% of the 324,308 inhabitants were Somali , and the same number spoke Somali as their mother tongue. 4.2% could read and write. The Somali mainly include the communities of Ogadeni- Darod to, besides other Darod clan and are Isaaq represented.

The zone is divided into the four woredas Danot , Boh , Geladin and Warder . Major places in the Warder Zone are Warder, Geladin and Boh .

The most important livelihood of the population is livestock, which is predominantly nomadic . The entire zone belongs to the Haud . Camels and small livestock are mainly kept, cattle are mainly to be found in small areas in the east of the zone. Since there are hardly any larger cities in the Warder Zone, there are few opportunities to market livestock products locally. Live cattle are therefore mainly exported to the neighboring Northern Somalia / Somaliland and from there to the states of the Arabian Peninsula. Milk is drunk by the cattle farmers themselves and covers around 50% of the annual food requirement. According to estimates by the Central Statistics Agency in 2003, based on aerial photographs, over two million sheep, nearly one and a half million goats, around 376,000 camels and 36,000 cattle are kept in the Warder Zone. The number of livestock per unit area and per dwelling is thus the highest of all zones in the Somali region.

The Warder Zone is affected by the conflict between the separatist ONLF and the Ethiopian army, which has intensified since 2007. Human Rights Watch said the army in particular committed human rights abuses against civilians in the zone. For example, villages in the vicinity of Warder town were evicted and then burned down, access to water for nomads from outside the town was restricted, and civilians were raped and extrajudicially executed.
