history

Warmundisriet is mentioned for the first time in 1105 . Five years later (1110) it is contractually stipulated that Warmisried will be transferred to the newly founded Ochsenhausen Monastery , a branch of the Benedictine Abbey of St. Blasien in the Black Forest. Pope Hadrian IV and 16 years later Pope Kalixt III. confirm this aforementioned possession of Warmundisrit in their papal letters of protection . The patronage - as well as the right of presentation to the parish church of St. Joanis lies with the monastery. In 1483 Ulrich von Frundsberg pledged the village of Warineß Ried, which now had 28 farms, to Konrad Gäb,Vicar of the monastery in Constance . Only in 1541 did the remaining rights to the Warmisried parish church go to the owner of the Mindelheim estate . Warmisried has been Bavarian since 1616.

On June 21, 1850, the farmers from Warmisried definitely replace the parish tithes that have been burdening their fields since ancient times with a cash settlement. Now they are finally free farmers, from which a small prosperity develops in the following period. This prosperity is also favored by the building of the brickworks near the mill, in Binkenhofen, in the Grub and Oberegg. For the first time, these newly created jobs are outside the local area.

After the end of the Franco-Prussian War in 1870/71, in which 10 Warmisried men took part, the nine returnees planted a peace linden tree on May 14, 1871 in relation to the peace festival with music and flag decorations. This linden tree is now a stately tree in the middle of the village.

On May 28, 1875, the volunteer fire brigade of 38 members was founded in Warmisried. Just one year later, the Herrmann bell foundry in Memmingen bought the first fire pump for 1180 Reichsmarks .

In 1889 a church organ was bought for 2500 marks. The municipality bears these costs. In 1898, the community idea first came into play with the construction of the first water supply by nine economists. 63 milk suppliers set up their own cheese dairy in 1899 . On February 3, 1902, a public telephone set at number 25 was put into operation. A year later, on March 11, 1903, Raiffeisen's cooperative concept with 56 members was continued through the establishment of the local loan office. Another association was founded in 1906 with the fruit growing and beekeeping association with 39 members. The construction of the central water supply in 1910 is Mayor Johann Martin Schaule's last project.

In mid-1925, five house owners were “connected to the radio”. This is made possible by the construction of the power grid from 1919.

In 1937 the rooms of the parish hall are expanded into a kindergarten.

On May 14, 1942, as in World War I , the three large church bells melted down.

In the 1970s, the two-class elementary school had to be abandoned. With the amalgamation of the three districts Warmisried, Unteregg and Oberegg to form a unified municipality, which came into effect on May 1, 1978, the independence of the municipality of Warmisried ends. In a previous citizens' vote, however, the citizens voted with a 2/3 majority for incorporation into Dirlewang. In the following years, one communication meeting point after another is lost. Dairy, smithy, bakery, two general stores, post office, as well as the lower inn with the only larger meeting room close. In order to counteract this development, the villagers mobilized all their strength and built their parish hall in 1983 with unpaid work .

A painful loss for the village occurs on June 2nd, 1994. A storm tears apart the large village linden tree. This tree was planted at the forge in 1720.

New life comes to the old school building in 1998 . With a lot of personal contribution from committed parents, the former classrooms are being converted into the local kindergarten . Due to the drastic decline in fertilizer sales, the local Raiffeisen warehouse is closed. The new sewage treatment plant for all three districts will go into operation in 2002. It replaces the old geological clarification basins that have treated the Warmisried wastewater for almost 40 years. A change in the landscape results from the construction of the wind power plant with a hub height of 68 m on the road to Eggenthal, almost at the same place where the Sunderholz estate, mentioned for the last time in 1496, stood. The construction of another will follow in 2008. Another innovation for clean electricity generation is being created with the solar park on the site of the former sawmill .

The former village with over 60 farmers and a variety of secondary jobs has now become a place for commuters. After the last of the two construction businesses closed in 2005, there are now a few trade taxpayers, a carpentry and a plumber , a landlord and a few one-man businesses.
