Warner Nickerson (born July 31, 1981 in Gilford , New Hampshire ) is a retired American ski racer . His strongest disciplines were giant slalom and slalom .

biography

Nickerson contested his first FIS races in 1998 . In the 2000/2001 season it also competes in the Nor-Am Cup , but after that it was not used again until winter 2003/2004 in this North American racing series. In the 2004/2005 season Nickerson, who was a student at Colby College in Waterville , Maine at the time, reached his first top 10 finishes in the Nor-Am Cup. At the Universiade 2005 in Innsbruck , Austria , he won the silver medal in the giant slalom. In slalom, super-G and downhill he was also among the top ten.

In December 2005 and 2006 Nickerson first took part in World Cup races, but did not win any points. Further World Cup starts followed only three years later. In the Nor-Am Cup he was able to improve his results further. After six top 10 placings in the 2005/2006 season , he stood on the podium for the first time on January 2, 2007 as third in the Sunday River giant slalom . The first victory in the slalom followed three days later. A year later he celebrated his second victory in the Nor-Am Cup in Sunday River, but this time in the giant slalom. He presented himself very consistently in the 2008/2009 season . Although he was only on the podium once, in second place in the Panorama giant slalom , with a total of eleven top 10 results, he reached fifth place in the overall ranking and, as in the previous year, third place in the giant slalom classification.

In winter 2009/2010 he was able to start again in three giant slaloms in the World Cup, but never made it to the second round of the best 30. He achieved this for the first time on December 5, 2010 in the giant slalom in Beaver Creek , when he was ranked 24 won his first World Cup points. After gaining further points as 26th in the giant slalom in Hinterstoder , he also started at the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where he finished 35th.
