Warren Cummings Smith

Warren Cummings Smith III (also Trace Smith ; born June 21, 1992 in Boston , United States ) is an American student who starts for Estonia as a ski racer . He almost exclusively competes in the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom .

Career

Smith lives in Massachusetts and studied at Dartmouth College ( New Hampshire ), where he belonged to the ski team and the sailing team. In his youth he was still an American under the name Trace Smith . In 2009 he took the opportunity to start for the Estonian Ski Association thanks to an Estonian grandmother.

Smith mainly takes part in FIS races and competes in the Nor-Am Cup , but has never competed in the Alpine Ski World Cup . In December 2013, Smith became the first Estonian to win an Alpine FIS race in Tärnaby, Sweden , and in the 2013/2014 season he also managed to score points in the Nor-Am Cup for the first time.

In 2013 Warren Cummings Smith qualified for the World Championships in Schladming . After a failure in the giant slalom, he reached 36th place in the slalom. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Smith was the only male representative of Estonia in the alpine skiing competitions. He finished 45th in giant slalom, in slalom he even made it into the top 30 with rank 26. At the 2015 World Championships in Vail / Beaver Creek , he again took part in giant slalom and slalom, but was eliminated in giant slalom in the first run and in the Slalom in the second round.
