Warren Stevens (born November 2, 1919 in Clarks Summit , Pennsylvania - † March 27, 2012 in Sherman Oaks , California ) was an American actor .

Life

Stevens attended the United States Naval Academy , which he left without a degree due to visual difficulties; in the Second World War he was used as a pilot in the US Army despite this. He began acting during his training in Annapolis , which he continued on stage and for the radio after the war. After visiting the Actors Studio in New York, he made his Broadway debut in 1947 in the play "Galileo". A small role in "Detective Story" earned him a contract with 20th Century Fox . After his first film Frog Men alongside Richard Widmark , he appeared in seven films in 1952. He starred alongside Humphrey Bogart in The Barefoot Countess and had a rare leading role in Alarm in Space in 1956 . However, his screen career did not develop well and often remained stuck in low-priced science fiction films. So his real main work remains with television: Here he played about one hundred and fifty roles, mostly as a guest star in dozens of series; He was part of the regular cast of one of these twice: 1956/1957 in Tales of the 77th Bengal Lancer and 1969/1970 in Bracken's World .
