Wartislaw IV. (* Before 1290 ; † August 1, 1326 ) was Duke of Pomerania-Wolgast .

Life

Wartislaw IV. Was the son of Duke Bogislaw IV. And his wife Margareta von Rügen (a daughter of Prince Wizlaw II. ). He still had four sisters: Jutta, Elisabeth, Margareta and Eufemia.

He was married to Elisabeth von Lindow-Ruppin and had three sons with her:

From 1309, Wartislaw IV was Duke of Pomerania-Wolgast and in 1321 concluded an inheritance with the Principality of Rügen , which became effective as early as 1325. While his assumption of power in the Principality of Rügen was apparently accepted without contradiction, after his death in 1326 there were years of hereditary wars against Mecklenburg , in which Pomerania ultimately asserted itself.

In addition, in 1317 he expanded his territory in the east by acquiring the states of Schlawe - Stolp from the inheritance of the dukes of Pomerania from the Mark Brandenburg .

For the Berlin Siegesallee designed August Kraus a marble bust Wartislaws as a minor character of the Monument Group 9 following the central statue of Henry the child, Brandenburg , unveiled on 22 March 1900's.
