Cornelius Krommeny

Cornelius Krommeny , also Cornelis , Crommeny , (* in the 16th century, probably in Krommenie ; † 1599 ) was a Dutch painter and court painter in Güstrow .

Life

Not much is known about his life. He probably came from Krommenie, now part of Zaanstad . In 1575 he came to Güstrow and stayed in Mecklenburg until 1598 . In 1574 Duke Ulrich III appointed him . von Mecklenburg-Güstrow to his court painter .

He worked as a portrait painter and made designs for epitaphs. In 1577 he took over the artistic execution of the draft researched by David Chytraeus of a monumental family tree of the Mecklenburg Princely House, which was printed by Jacob Lucius in Rostock and formed the basis for the execution in Güstrow Cathedral .

Works

Theodor Fischer-Poisson copied the Doberan ducal pictures for the ancestral gallery in Schwerin Castle .
