Washington Township is a township in Northumberland County, one of 22 townships with that name in Pennsylvania , United States . At the time of the 2010 United States Census , there were 746 people living here, up from 660 people in 2000.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the township has an area of 46.9 km 2 and there are no significant bodies of water.
The Washington Township borders (clockwise) in the north with the Little Mahanoy Township and the West Cameron Township , in the east with the Upper Mahanoy Township and in the south with the Jordan Township . Washington Township borders Jackson Township to the west .
The natural boundaries of the township are Line Mountain in the north and Hooflander Mountain in the south to Jordan Township . The township is drained by the Schwaben Creek and its tributary Middle Creek .

The Himmel's Church Covered Bridge over Schwaben Creek was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
Demographics
At the time of the United States Census 2000, Washington Township was inhabited by 660 people. The population density was 14.1 people per km². There were 283 housing units at an average of 6.0 per km². The population of Washington townships was 99.70% white , 0% black or African American , 0% Native American , 0% Asian , 0% Pacific Islander , 0.15% said they belonged to other races and 0.15% said two or more ethnicities. 0.15% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of Washington townships were distributed to 263 households out of which 30.4% had children under the age of 18. 65.4% of households were married, 6.8% had a female head of household without a husband, and 24.3% were not families. 21.3% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 14.8% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 2.94.
